We’re Hiring a Student Researcher

St. Joseph’s Lebanese and Syrian Benevolent Society, Sydney, is seeking a post-secondary student to assist the Society in mapping its community membership and to assist with website updating and social media as well as related community relations work and event support.


  • Working with Society President and other members, create a membership strategy that engages past and current members, with particular focus on youth demographic.
  • Update and maintain membership database and contact information, with particular focus on email communication.
  • Survey membership to determine needs of the community and inform future Club activity.
  • Maintain and update Society website and engage with social media community (Facebook). Create digital content calendar to ensure regular messaging is shared.
  • Assist with Melting Pot Cultural Festival event including promotion, event/food preparation and day-of support.
  • Work with Society Committees as needed.


Skills and Qualifications  

  • High personal motivation, self-management and detail-orientation; ability to take responsibility in meeting deadlines and making progress without direct supervision.
  • Strong spoken and written communications skills.
  • Strong existing computer skills with Microsoft Office (especially Access) and general Internet and electronic communications.
  • Articulate and tactful communications skills; readiness to meet and work directly with community members.
  • Must be a post-secondary student with plans to return to school in the coming academic year.


Start Date:        June 27, 2016 (8 weeks)

Salary:               $15/ hour
